Cloth size is the table plus twice the drop. On a 30 inch high table: a 6 ft banquet table takes 90 x 132" to the floor or 60 x 102" for a 15 inch drop, an 8 ft takes 90 x 156", a 60 inch round takes a 120" round cloth, a 72 inch round a 132" round and a 48 inch round a 108" round.

What size tablecloth for a 6 foot table?
A 6 ft banquet table is 72 by 30 inches and 30 inches tall. 90 x 132" reaches the floor on all four sides; 60 x 102" hangs 15 inches. Here is what each common size does on it.

Fitted and stretch covers
A fitted cover is cut to the table, so a 6 ft table takes a 72 x 30 x 30 inch cover and a bar-height 6 ft table a 72 x 30 x 42. A stretch (spandex) cover does the same job and pulls tight over the legs. They look crisp on a vendor or check-in table; for a dinner, a draped cloth reads softer. A 6 ft round table is a 72 inch round, which takes 132" round to the floor.
What size tablecloth for an 8 foot table?
An 8 ft table is 96 by 30 inches. 90 x 156" for floor length, 60 x 126" for a lap drop.
What size tablecloth for a 60 inch round table?
The 60 inch round seats 8 and is the most common wedding guest table. 120" round reaches the floor and 90" round gives a 15 inch drop. A 132 inch round puddles 6 inches on the floor. For 72 inch rounds the floor-length cloth is 132" round, and for a 48 inch sweetheart or cake table it is 108" round.

Tablecloth sizes for home dining tables
Home tables aren't standard sizes, so measure yours. As a start, these are Sur La Table's standard sizes and the tables they cover. Ovals use the rectangle sizes; choose Oval in the calculator for the exact drop.

How to measure for a tablecloth
Measure the tabletop (diameter for a round, length and width for a rectangle) and the height from floor to top. Pick the drop, then add twice the drop to each dimension. Floor length uses the height as the drop, so a 30 inch tall 60 inch round needs 60 + 30 + 30 = 120 inches.
How long should a tablecloth hang?
- Casual: 6 to 8 inches, clear of laps.
- Formal dinner: 10 to 15 inches, to the lap.
- Floor length: about 29 to 30 inches on a standard table. Weddings and banquets use it to hide table legs and storage.
- Puddled: a few inches more than the height, so the cloth pools. Keep it off walkways and serving lines.

For a standard 6 ft banquet table (72 x 30 inches, 30 inches tall), a 90 x 132" cloth reaches the floor on every side and a 60 x 102" cloth hangs 15 inches, to the lap. A 60 x 120 hangs 15 inches on the sides and 24 at the ends. For a snug look with no drape, use a fitted 72 x 30 x 30 inch cover.

What size table does a 108 inch round tablecloth fit?
A 48 inch round, to the floor. On a 60 inch round it hangs 24 inches and on a 72 inch round 18, so there it's a long lap drop rather than floor length. It also covers a 36 inch cocktail table to the floor, with 6 inches pooling.
What size tablecloth do I need for a 6 seater table?
For a home rectangle or oval table that seats 6, Sur La Table lists 60 x 84 inches for tables seating 6 to 8, and 52 x 70 for smaller ones seating 4 to 6. A round table for 4 to 6 takes a 70 inch round. Measure to be sure: the table plus twice the drop is the size.

How do you calculate tablecloth size?
Add twice the drop you want to each side of the table. A 72 x 30 inch table with a 15 inch drop needs 30 + 30 = 60 by 72 + 30 = 102 inches. For floor length, the drop is the table height, usually 30 inches.
How long should a tablecloth hang?
About 6 to 8 inches for a casual meal, 10 to 15 inches for a formal dinner, and 29 to 30 inches to reach the floor on a standard table, which is what most weddings and banquets use.
What size tablecloth for a cocktail table?
A 30 or 36 inch cocktail table at 30 inches tall takes a 90 or 96 inch round to the floor. A 42 inch highboy needs a 120" round cloth; many venues tie it at the waist with a sash.
What are the standard tablecloth sizes?
