Take RSVPs and sales at the door

The short answer

For a free event make a ticket type with price 0 and only RSVP (free, pay later) ticked. Guests RSVP from the ticket link. Record walk-up sales under Manual ticket sales, mark door payments with Collected at the door, and print the list.

Set up a free RSVP event

  1. Open the event, go to Tickets and press New ticket type. Do this in the Tickets tab, not in the Create event window.
  2. Name it, for example “RSVP”, set Price to 0 and Quantity available to the number of places.
  3. Under Allowed payment methods tick only RSVP (free, pay later) and untick Pay now (online). Create the ticket type.
  4. Make the event public and share the ticket link. See Sell tickets to an event.
  5. A guest adds the type, enters name, email and phone, and presses RSVP. They see “RSVP confirmed” and get an email “RSVP Confirmation” with a ticket number.

Record sales at the door

  1. In the Tickets tab, under Manual ticket sales, press Record walk-up sale. It shows once the event has a ticket type.
  2. Choose the ticket type, quantity, customer name, email, phone and Card or Cash. Press Record sale.
  3. The buyer is emailed, and the sale counts against the quantity. Choosing Card only labels the sale. Nothing is charged.
  4. When someone who reserved pays in person, find their row and press Collected at the door.
  5. Press Print / PDF sales for a printable list, and use your browser’s Save as PDF.

What it does not do

  • RSVP is not a separate feature. It is a payment choice on a ticket type. There is no guest list screen, RSVP link, plus-ones or custom questions such as meal choice.
  • RSVPs and sales share the type’s Quantity available. The event’s Max capacity is shown to guests as “Up to n guests” but is not enforced.
  • The Tickets tab form needs a quantity of at least 1, so a type cannot be saved as unlimited there.
  • Buyers’ own RSVP and pay-at-door tickets appear under Manual ticket sales, not Online ticket purchases. An unpaid reservation shows the status paid beside Due at the door. A free RSVP also shows Due at the door and the Collected at the door button.
  • RSVPs never expire or release by themselves. There is no screen to cancel one.
  • The printed list’s Total tickets and Total revenue add up every row whatever its status, including cancelled and unpaid ones.
  • A guest can reserve at most 10 places at a time, and 10 reservations an hour per ticket type.
  • If a guest adds two ticket types and the second fails, the first stays booked and its email has gone.
  • Reviews from the public calendar publish at once, cannot be moderated, and the first review for an event cannot be written from the app.
