Archive and restore a venue

Plan: Venue plan Who: The person who created the venue, while still an owner. Checked against the app on

The short answer

On the Venues page, open the row menu for the venue and choose Archive venue. It leaves the switcher and your bill is credited. To bring it back, press Restore under Archived. Nothing is deleted.

Archive a venue

  1. Open the Venues page. Open the menu named More for the venue and choose Archive venue (you can restore it).
  2. A message says “Venue removed (archived)”. The venue disappears from the switcher and from Your venues for everyone on its team. Its extra-venue charge stops and a credit for the rest of the period is issued right away.

Restore it

  1. On the Venues page, find the venue under Archived.
  2. Press Restore and its name. A message says “Venue restored. Billing is updated.”
  3. It comes back as an extra venue, billed from today.

What it does not do

  • Only the person who created the venue, and who is still an owner, can archive or restore it. A co-owner you promoted cannot: “Only the venue owner can remove a venue”.
  • You must keep at least one active venue.
  • If you archive the venue your plan includes, the oldest other active venue becomes the included one.
  • Writes to an archived venue are refused: “This venue has been removed (archived).” Its data is kept.
  • There is no delete-a-venue button. To have a venue’s data deleted, email hello@myvenuehq.com.
  • There is no way to hand a venue to another account or move it to another subscription.
  • Billing failures say “We couldn’t remove that venue because billing failed. Please try again.”
