AI credits: what they cover and how to buy more
HQ runs on credits. One ordinary question costs about one credit. Free venues get 25 a month and the Venue plan 500, plus 200 for each extra venue, and an owner or manager can buy 1,000 credits for $10 or 5,000 for $40.
See your credits and buy a pack
- Open Settings in the left rail, then AI credits under Payments.
- Read This month. It says how many credits are left, and that they refill on the 1st.
- Under Bought credits see packs you already bought and when the next ones expire.
- In Buy credits, press Buy for $10 for 1,000 credits or Buy for $40 for 5,000. Stripe Checkout opens.
- Pay. Back on the page you see “Payment received. Your credits will appear here in a moment.” They are added once the payment is confirmed, which can take a few seconds.
- Check History for each month’s credits, packs bought and credits used by day.

What costs a credit
A chat question, a reply draft and a pasted email each cost at least one credit, charged after the answer. A long answer that looks up many records costs a few. A failed or empty answer costs nothing. The daily briefing on Today costs nothing, and pressing Confirm on a card costs nothing.
When you run low or run out
When about a tenth of the month’s credits are left, a note under the Ask box says “Your AI credits are running low”, with a Buy credits button for people who can buy. At zero, HQ says “You have used all your AI credits for now. A venue owner can buy a pack in Settings, or they refill on the 1st.” The briefing still shows. A venue is also stopped for the day at 3,000 credits: “This venue has reached its daily AI credit limit. It resets tomorrow.”
What it does not do
- Monthly credits do not roll over. Bought credits last 12 months and are used after the month’s credits.
- Only the venue owner, or a role allowed to manage the venue’s settings, can buy a pack. Others see “Only a venue owner or manager can buy credits.”
- Credits are added only after Stripe confirms the payment, and a refunded or disputed pack takes its credits back.
- There is no unlimited tier. If you need more than a pack gives, email hello@myvenuehq.com.
- Each venue has its own credits, so a second venue does not share the first venue’s.

Do I need a card to use the Free credits?
No. The 25 monthly credits come with the Free plan and need no card. Buying a pack needs a card at Stripe Checkout.
