Lead sources and cost per booking
Open Money, then Lead sources. Each inquiry is tagged with where it came from, you type what you spent on each source each month, and the table shows bookings, booked value and the cost per booking. Owners and managers only.
Read the report and enter your spend
- Open Money in the left rail and choose the Lead sources tab. Pick a period: This month, 3 months, 6 months or 12 months.
- Read the table. Each row is a source with its inquiries, tours, bookings, the share booked, the booked value, what you spent and the cost per booking.
- Under What you spent, type the amount you paid each source each month, such as listing fees or ad spend, and press Tab. Leave a month empty if it was nothing. Use Add for another source, such as a bridal fair.
- Under Tag where these came from, choose a source for recent inquiries that have none. Open any inquiry to change its source under Where did they find you?.
Tag your links
- On the same tab, under Tag your links, press Copy link next to The Knot, WeddingWire, Google Ads or Instagram.
- Paste that link into the listing or ad. Every inquiry that comes through it is tagged for you.
- For any other source, take your booking page address and add ?utm_source= and a short name.
How a source is chosen
The first touch wins. The source comes from the utm_source in the link, else the site the visitor came from, else how they arrived. A visitor from a site the app does not recognise becomes Referral, or Our website if they used your own booking page, form or tour page. A source you choose by hand is never overwritten. The code from Settings, Website embeds passes the host page’s tags into the frame for you.
What it does not do
- Spend is typed by hand, one amount per source per month, from 0 to 1,000,000. Nothing is imported from ad accounts.
- Cost per booking is the spend divided by bookings for that source and period. It shows n/a until there is both spend and a booking.
- A booking counts when the inquiry was converted to an event that is not cancelled. Booked value is the amount on that event.
- Imported inquiries are left out of the report. Inquiries typed by hand or sent through the API are Not tagged until you choose a source.
- A tour booked by someone with an open inquiry leaves that inquiry’s source as it was.
- The report reads the last 5,000 inquiries in the period. Periods are calendar months.
- The embed code from the older places, such as the form builder’s Embed button, does not pass the tags. Use Settings, Website embeds.
- How you compare is optional and shows nothing until enough other venues have joined.
Common questions
Why does a source show n/a?
There is no spend for it, no booking from it, or no inquiries in that period.
